GTV launches prepaid subscription scratch cards in Kenya

Gateway Television has strengthened its intention to challenge existing pay TV providers by unveiling a system that enables customers to pay their monthly subscription fees with scratch cards.

The G-UP scratch card is available to all GTV subscribers and is expected to challenge DSTv's position in the Kenyan market.

GTV scratch card are available from GTV dealers, eliminating the need for customers to wait in queues to pay for their subscriptions, explained Charles Waituika, GTV Kenya general manager.

In order to make payments, customers will send the recharge number located on their scratch cards to a designated number at GTV via SMS (Short Message Service). The cards are available in three denominations, catering to the three GTV packages -- G Home, G Choice and G Plus.

"The move was prompted by our commitment to world-class customer service and the need to provide a much easier and convenient way of paying subscriptions by the growing number of GTV subscribers," Waituika said.
