Africell runs out of 077 numbers, launches 088 code

Africell has exhausted the numbers available in the 077 code and has been forced to apply for an additional national dialing code, 088.

"In order to still be on course with our plans and meet the requirements of the market, we were left with no alternative but to apply for an additional national code, which is 088," said Africell Chief Commercial Officer Joe Amara Bangali Jr.

Including the total number of subscribers, SIM cards in the channel and those under production, Africell's subscriber base has increased to more than 500,000 users, Bangali Jr. said.

Africell commercially launched its operation in Sierra Leone in 2005 as the third telco in the country.
